Air Source Heat Pumps
Are you considering a conventional boiler swap or installation? Pump the brakes and look at an air source heat pump instead.
Air source heat pumps absorb heat from the outside air. This heat can then be used to heat radiators, underfloor heating systems, or warm air convectors and hot water in your home. An air source heat pump extracts heat from the outside air in the same way that a fridge extracts heat from its inside. It can get heat from the air even when the temperature is as low as -20° C. Heat pumps have some impact on the environment as they need electricity to run, but the heat they extract from the ground, air, or water is constantly being renewed naturally.
The benefits of air source heat pumps:
- Lower fuel bills, especially if you are replacing conventional electric heating
- Income through the UK government’s Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)
- Lower home carbon emissions, depending on which fuel you are replacing
- No fuel deliveries needed
- Can heat your home as well as your water
- Minimal maintenance required
- Usually easier and cheaper to install than a ground source heat pump
If you’re planning on replacing your boiler or installing a new boiler any time soon, you should give some thought to installing an air source heat pump. Although the installation cost most be slightly higher than a conventional heating system you’ll receive significant payments from the RHI payments which will effectively pay for your installation. Although the cost to install a conventional heating system may be lower, the install cost can never be recouped! An air source heat pump system also has lower running costs than a conventional gas or oil fired boiler, saving you money year on year.
Air source heat pumps are perfectly suited to underfloor heating systems due to their operating conditions. Geo Green Group are experts in underfloor heating installation. Click here for more information.
If you don't like the idea of an AIr Source Heat Pump system, then there are other options available. We also install Ground Source Heat Pump systems. GSHP systems extract heat from the Earth by ciculating a mixture of water and anti-freeze through pipes buried in the ground. You can read more about our Ground Source Heat Pumps by clicking here.
Not convinced. No problem. We install conventional boiler and heating systems too. Click here for more information.
